Students' Council

A committee of staff members are designated as the Students’ Council Advisors every year. The Students’ Council Advisors monitor the activities of the Students’ Council and assist them in organising various events held at the college level. The members of the Students’ Council are elected duly by the students of the college at the beginning of every academic year. Candidates with leadership qualities and consistent academic record are chosen from final year UG Course, to contest in the election. Before the election the students participate in an interview with the Principal and present themselves to the members of the administration and the Students’ Council Advisors. The students are allowed to canvass for votes among their fellow students. Students’ Council Election is conducted through e-voting system and the students are designated as President, Secretary, Vice- President, Joint- Secretary and Convenors with respect to the votes they have gained for themselves.

The Students’ Council Investiture Ceremony takes place immediately after the declaration of the election results. The Students’ Council acts a liaison between the college students and the management. The elected members of the Students’ Council strive to maintain the discipline and decorum of the college. Duties are allotted to these Students’ Council members. They assist the Vice Principals of various disciplines in monitoring the day to day activities of the students. St.Mary’s aims to further develop and maintain the standard of excellence through the Students’ Council.
